I remember this as being a very cool and expensive toy. I never got one but when I was in second grade a third grader won one for selling the most magazines or something. This was in the early 80's.

This toy was so cool to play with and scare my little sister.

In 1988 I was working as a teller at a bank and the we used the Omnibot to "sell" the idea of savings cards/accounts to kids. Had a whole show with the bank manager and Tomy having a chat with kiddies. The remote had a microphone that relayed your voice to the Omnibot and synthesized the audio into robot voice - way cool! The other cool feature was the ability to pre-record actions onto a cassette tape (which was built into the omnibot). It could record any action of the omnibot including voice recording and was basically limited to the lenght of the cassette tape. You could then set it to "play" the recording at a set time. Theoretically you could program it to ride into the room at 6:00 in the morning and bring you a glas of water with some vitamins, greet you and finally pull you blanket off. Then go to the next room and do the same. Natuarally I had to take the Omnibot home to test it a lot. Hours of fun.
