If there was a penguin of the water pets, I had one. I got it for my birthday one year. I had been wondering what the heck these things were called!

oh, that abominable song! Almost 20 years later, and that song pops into my head-- "water pets/water pets/love getting water wet...they jump in the water/they don't need a boat/because water pets love to float!" Ugh.

This is one toy I CANNOT find pictures of online, and I NEVER see any listings on eBay. I had the red dog.. I loved him. Probably one of my all time favorite toys.

I used to have a water pet. I was actually just watching an ancient VHS of The Great Harbor Rescue, which has a single water pets commercial. I was hoping to find at least an image online to explain to my boyfriend.

i can't believe i found this site! i was trying to find a picture of them online and am so glad i found the commercial. apparently when they first came out i kept asking for one but my parents had no idea what i was saying, i guess it sounded something like "waddapet waddapet". Anyway they finally figured out what i was saying and got me the blue cat, i refound it and i submitted a picture i just took so hopefully it'll be up soon!

I had a water pet doggy and he was red with blue ears i think. i still remember the song! wish i could find a picture of him!

My 17 year old son still has and sleeps with his I wish I could find another my 6 and 3 year old always try to take it from him It is now see through

The new Dell commercials have the Lollipop song on them and I've had it stuck in my head for weeks... then I started getting the lines "they jump in the water/they don't need a boat/because water pets love to float!" instead of the correct lines. It's been driving me crazy that there was a commercial I remembered and I couldn't be sure if "water pets" was the correct name so I had to look it up. I can't believe I remembered something like that twenty years later. I don't even think I had one, just wanted one.

I had a waterpet that was actually a pegasus pony. But it also changed color depending on if it was in hot water or cold water.

My sister got a water pet in 1989 when I was 1 year old and I stole it from here. Now I am 21 and I still have it. He's a yellow bear that says "lifeguard" on his chest. I love him! He's all tattered and worn and dirty, but I love him. :)
