The 80's were in a word... perfect - at least for me. I was a child in the 80's. I turned 12 in 1989 - I spend some of my most influential years in the 80's. I remember playing until dark in my tree house. I remember going to the mall and spending most of my money in the arcade (I think the only people who go to arcades now ARE adults trying to recapture the 80's). I mean, when I found this site... I was totally entraced. I popped in my copy of "Pretty In Pink" for some background noise and immediatly immersed myself in the one time period I'm totally 100% nostalgic about... if I could go back just by wishing it - I'd be there faster than you can peg your jeans.

Why do I love the 80's? It was a time where cartoons didn't all have to be about viloence, my mother didn't have to worry about me getting kidnapped, the music was good, I could go to our highschool and see Leslie; the only girl daring enough to have a mohawk, you could but a coloring book for $.99,McDonald's Happy Meals came with little Chicken McNuggets that you could interchange their plastic clothes, Michael Jackson was cool, it was "cool" to act like a Valley Girl by saying, "Gag me with a spoon", cars were still made out of metal not Rubbermaid, as a baby, I never once sat in a car seat, MTV was about music videos, not boring TV shows, tv was family entertainment;you didn't have to worry about language on public television. I loved the 80's because it was a time of ease.

I was born in 1964 and still consider myself a child of the 80's. There are very few of us who could consider ourselves as adults prior to being 25 or so, depending on your maturity. Most of the 70's were spent in elementary school and the memories are so faded. I clearly remember experiencing life in the 80's, turning 21, hanging with friends at happy hour or at the clubs, listening to the rockin' music of the decade. Remember the first time you heard "I Ran" by A Flock of Seagulls? Remember how cool it was when the Iranians returned the hostages, when Reagan took office? They knew not to mess with him or the re-born United States of the 80's! Remember when cable T.V. was installed in your house? Remember when you got a touch tone phone? I'm sure our parents would debate the issue of best decade, but we all know which one it was. "Cum on feel the noize!!"

I'm born in 1984... and as I was growing up...I had my best friend the tv by my side... And a wonderful channel called TCC (the childrens channel). Every morning I woke up, turned my tv on and sat there, amazed at what was happening in front of me - Jayce and the wheeled warriors, transformers, MASK, She-ra, He-man, Jem and all the other great shows... Those were the golden years of cartoons... Never again...will cartoons be as glorious as they were back in the 80's... never again...

I was born in a middle of seventy's, and just like one guy somewhere above, I've started to listen heavy metal in 1987. First fucking influence was Dee Snider and TWISTED SISTER, and than I saw the whole bunch of metal maniacs. 80's are definitely the fase in humanity's history that shows emotional side of the earth's population. Make new decade, annd continue the past glory... www.undercode.org

Dude, you totally have to love the 80's. They were radical! Everything was BIG, BOLD, and LOUD! In what other decade were Corey Feldmen and Corey Haim so popular? When did you ever want Cabbage Patch Dolls or Mr. T Cereal as much as you did back then? We were fascinated with Pee-Wee Herman, leg warmers,Snap Braclets,Molly Ringwald movies, and NKOTB! The eighties have to have been the greatest decade I've ever lived through! And sure I've only lived through 3 - 80s, 90s and 00s but still the 80s were the best! I want them back!

I was born in 1983 and I still remember the clothes, tv shows and my mom's big curly flashdance style hair. I think that the 1980's was the best decade of the 20th century, why?: Big hair, big baggy clothes (Especially big shoulder pad jackets) and a culture that is stil influencing us today and changed the way that we think about everything. The best of it was the music (I love the police).

what can i say? the music was fun to listen to at parties or in your 1985 camaro. the rap music actually had something to say and was not so dark & morbid. the movies never took themselves too seriously. the top 100 charts were more diverse than at any other time in history. so more artist saw the light of day. mtv was actually...mtv back then! i really consider myself fortunate for spending my teen years in the greatest decade for pop culture! my heart goes out to the 90's teens. in my heart, the 80's only departed off the calender. but it will always flow in my bloodstream! --take care everyone! love & peace!

I love the 80's for all kinds of reasons. The Music was great, television was so good u could watch it all day and never get bored (those were the couch potato days for the kids :), and the video games ruled!!!! It seemed as if every day was full of something unique and exciting...everyday was a blast. I dont think i can recall any bad moments from the eighties...the clothes were cool, it was just a great time...buildings, and the environment around u had that "80's" look which was definitely cool. Now adays its all Rap garbage and sex and drugs on TV - and stuff is so damn expensive now adays, all u have time to do is work 24/7...life is boring now.. Its better to have memories from the 80's then trying to relive them. Thats one of my philosophys..the 80's are over..remember them how they were, but dont try to bring things "back", cause it ruins the once great memory u had for that decade..but then again, i might be wrong. 80's were too fun to try and not relive them :)

The 80s were an incredible decade- the movies, the music, the videos, television, toys, video games. Everything was a blast. And of course, cable television ruled. I remember being so disappointed when we lost cable in the fall of 1985. I mean, that meant having to do without two of the quintessential elements of the decade- Nickelodeon and MTV. I ultimately made it through the 80s, and there were still some great, _great_ moments from 86-89, after all, the movies, great television, and Transformers and GI Joe were still there, but it was just a little less great. Anyway, back to my story. I got cable back last september. And while I _love_ the channels I have right now (I don't know what I'd do without E and Cartoon Network) the two big mainstays of the 80s- MTV and Nick- just weren't the same anymore. Nick became just a little _too_ PC and kid-safe, and MTV never shows music videos anymore. Just goes to show how much the decade will be missed...

THE 80'S WERE THE BEST TIMES OF MY LIFE. I WAS A FRESHMAN IN HIGH SCHOOL, ON OCT,21ST 1980, AT 3:30 PM I LOST MY VIRGINITY. THE GREATEST THING THAT COULD EVER HAPPEN TO A MAN!FROM 1980 TILL 1985 WHEN I GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL LIFE WAS ONE BIG PARTY! WHO COULD FORGET THE INTRODUCTION OF "MTV"!RAP MUSIC CAME ON THE SCENE IN THE 80'S,"RUN-DMC"!I HAD GIRL AFTER GIRL IN THE 80'S. THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM WITH DRUGS AND VIOLENCE THAT THE KIDS NOW FACE EVERYDAY. BOY I WOULD GIVE ANYTHING TO GO BACK TO THE 80'S JUST FOR ONE WEEKEND!

The best things I can remember about the 80's are Garbage Pail Kids and Atari! I was born in '75. I still love and watch many 80's movies. "Pretty in Pink", "Some Kind of Wonderful", Anything John Hughes wrote. I remember Fraggle Rock and the Muppets Show. Although, I could be mistaken, The Muppet Show might have started earlier, maybe in '79? I'm not sure. All I know is "I love the 80's". Every weekend, I turn my stereo on to "Backtracks USA". This radio program plays THE BEST music from the 80's. It never fails, I can still remember the words to all the songs I grew up with and I always smile and laugh when I listen. The 80's were a blast! Back in the 80's, my brother could do anything "By the power of Greyskull" and I thought I could find the buried treasure of "One Eyed Willie" in the woods nearby my house. Oh, and don't forget Weird Al Yankovich. 80's Rule!!!
