I liked the 80's because the Olsen twins were then too young to speak.

I was born in 1982 & remember the 80's very vividly from 1986 & up. I had a cousin who wasa teenager of the 80s & i would go to her house & we'de listen to her records. I remember going to Peaches & buying my first record for myself. (my parents have a console 60s stereo that plays 33s,45s,78s records & an 8 track player. Yes everything's still running great on it.) It was Cyndi Lauper w/ her song "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". I really love the music from back then. It was great, Madonna, the Gos Gos, Joan Jett, New Kids ont The Block etc. I'm still a big Madonna fan today. I also remember the ABC saturday morning cartoons. After the Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show Soul Train came on. Once you saw that train you knew the cartoons were over. When Teddy Ruxpin came on the market I was the first of all my friends to get him. To this day he still sits on my bed in mint condition ready to playa tap w/ Grubby. Does anyone remember the saying on MTV & what the "M" stands for? Answer only if you are 20 & younger. (Answer..I want my MTV...Music Televison...Moon Man.) The days of the orig. Nicklelodeon, Just Don't Sit There, You cant do that on Television, Pete & Pete, Pen Wheel, Fred Penners Place, Round House, Are You Afraid of the Dark? etc. Oh yes I almost forgot Doug. Then we had the clothes. I remember wearing royal blue leg warmers w/ snow flakes on them & seeing previews for Dirty Dancing. My first scarey movies was Nightmere on Elm Street. Then there was BEETLEJUICE staring Micheal Keating, Wynona Rider & Catherine O Hara (Mom fromthe Home Alone movies. Everyone wanted to be the Ferris Bueller w/ Ben Stein (back then we weren't winning his money on comedy central lol.) Cheers & the Cosby Show, Full House & Perfect Strangers. The night drama Dallas which still harbors the question of "Who killed JR Huelling?" My mom used to watch this show every week. The Jeffersons &Weezie. Who remembers the Popples, Jem & the Misfits, Lite Brite, Care Bears, Glo Warms Pound Puppies & Pound Purries. Toys R Us was the second largest toy store besides FAO Shwartz. Now that I've made myself feel old I'm going to watch Look Who's Talking on VHS not DVD. That's right kids DVDs weren't even thought of in 1989. Not putting the DVD down though becuase I have a dvd vcr combo player.Little fun fact the first CD player came out in 1982 & cost $600! Now you can buy full Sony stereo 5 disk changer shelf set at Best Buy for &150 at the most. Like I totally have to go now. peace, Eileen

I love the 80's because during that era our only child, a daughter, was developing into a strong, beautiful young woman and her mother and I were priviledged to observe and participate in that developement. Our daughter has always been our best friend as have we been hers and the wonderful, close and loving relationship we enjoyed in the 80's continues to this day. She is married now and our son-in-law has become the son we never had....and soon our first grandchild, a girl, will be born and the legacy will continue.

I didnt really live the 80's, I was actually born 87,but I think in that time peolpe were'nt so up tight. And from what I see punk rock started back then, and all the colored clothes, music records, songs, and singers who are now a days not known ,because they were discontinued.

Well I spent today washing up and listening to "I'm in Love With a German Film Star" by the Passions. Over and over again. Can there be any song that sounds SO 80s? So sexy and intense and high and laid back... It conjures up images of hot nights and neon, cool cafes, cherry flavoured EVERYTHING, flashing white smiles blinding infite entourages of stylists, managers and photographers. 80s was all about glamour. Everything sparkled and glittered and shone. The sky was blue, not that muddy grey/brown we see in all the movies these days, and was always full of stars...Go back and look at the movies! They were packed with messages and symbols of hope and dreams. These days everything's chain link fences and brushed steel, cold, invasive analysis and abusive behaviour masquerading as "moral ambiguity". Watchman, Doom Patrol, Frankie, Van Halen, The Young Ones, ET, The Explorers, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Cure, the Banshees, The Sisters, Run DMC, Saturday Night Live, Big Hair, masses of makeup, summer, summer, summer... Everything was new. But the 80s finished. We lost our cherry. These days, everything is old. Kids are born old. And yet...I smell a certain dissatisfaction with the endless post-modern emptiness of the 90s... What is it about the odd decades? The 30s, the 50s, the 70s, the 90s, they all sucked. The 20s, the 40s, the 60s, the 80s, party on dude! Yay this site. 80s nostalgia trip for the day - put on "I'm in Love With a German Film Star", throw away your wrap-around "techno" shades that any self-respecting 80's teenager would have howled at as worthy of a four-year old, dig out any old pair of jeans and trainers, throw away all your grey anoraks and woolly hats, slip on those Ray-bans and air-strum along like you're the guitarist from the Passions... It's all about love...

I was born in 1970, so I was ten years of age in 1980. My favorite cartoons were the chitmonks with Ivan, simon, and Theodore and David Savil. Remember the Levis 501 jeans. I graduated in 1989. The 80's were memorable.

I was born in 1971, a great time to live through the 80's as a kid. Being a kid back then, everything was "Immaginative". By that I mean you had fun in simple ways, it was fun. It was a time when you could be free, be who you wanted to be, today, there is so much conformity. A lot of 80's songs made you feel happy, sometimes sad, but most of all they made you think. A lot of the lyrics in those songs still have meaning today, if only we took more notice, why are we in all this mess now?, because we have forgotten what real love is about. Listen to some 80's music, watch some 80's movies, and you'll know what it's all about. Sure, we had our share of life's drama's back then, but nothing like it is today. Progress and technology are the main culprits, but unfortunatly we have become more and more less focused on what it's all about. One thing I do treasure most about the 80's when I look back now, is the memories that I or you still have. You could say that about any decade I suppose, but the 1980's were for me, a great love and affection, of a time when we were all just happy to be ourselves.

I was born in 1974 so when the eighties commenced I was only 5 and a bit yrs old. However, my mum ran the local youth club, which I attended week in week out and was the local nipper! I remember dancing to adam ant (doing some crazy dance where you kicked each leg out) or the jam (again some crazy move where you walked about lifting your hands up & down)! The films that still do it for me are those from this decade - BREWSTERS MILLIONS (I carn't believe no one has mentioned this) The Goonies, Back to the Future, Trading Places & Beverly Hills Cop!! Also must finally say - how good were Talk Talk.... As for the TV shows! WOW! Chips will return in a moment....

does anyone remember a very old cartoon series that used to be shown on the p;d cable channels(the one where you had a switcher box to change the cable channel). The cartoon was about 5 orphans who went to live in a castle and the castle had 5 robotic cats with different powers that could morph into a giant robot.

I hadn't thought about the eighties in a long time, until I was invited to an 80's New Years Eve Bash. I ran around the mall last night looking for "FAT shoes laces" and realized just how much I missed the 80's and the best and really care free times of my life. I graduated from HS in 1986 a very cool youth and I know it was because of the influence of the coolest decade ever!!! I'm going to be in heaven tonight listening to freestyle, hip hop, house, rap and new wave or new age music. What a mix of tastes, Huh! Only a decade as unique as the eighties could make a truely well rounded taste in music and life. Even the very knowledgable youth of today can appreciate the energetic and hopeful music of the 80's that is still played in the hippest of clubs today!

I personally love the eighties because thats is when my parents copulated to produce me. That must have been wonderful. I love the spice the eighties brought to my life as well as Richard Nixon's. I loved him dearly. He called me a "cocksucker", and i don't mind. I loved him many a time. The eighties to me meant SILENT SPRING the insperation of the environmental battle we fought. In conclusion I feel that the youth of today suck because they were not as culturafied as we were.

I love the 80's. I was born in 1975, so I remember everything that happened in the 80's. Cabbage Patch, Rubix cube, atari 2600, Care Bears, the McDonald's commericals, Saturday Morning Cartoons, Michael Jackson phenomenon, there were so many wonderful things. The only real thing I regret about the 80's was that I wish I could of actually been a teen, because I didn't turn 15 until 1990. That would have been "bitchin"!

Because back in the 80's, heavy metal and punk rock were as they should have been remaining. These bands like Guns N' Roses, The Ramones, Mötley Crüe, The Clash or Poison knew how to rock. Look at these new loser bands like Papa Roach, Korn, P.O.D. or Linkin Park, they really suck and they made Rock N' Roll a puke.

Care Bears! They need to have a convention. My best memories were watching Saturday morning toons! Care bears, My Little pony, Smurfs, Pound puppies, Rainbow bright, strawberry shortcake, transformers, voltron, Jem. Yep, I am an 80's child allright! Born in 1976 all I remember is those 80's. Boy that was some fun times!

I love 80's movies and music! The fashion is hilarious to look at now, but so sweet and, really, pretty innocent compared to what we have today. I feel ancient talking that way (I was only born in '78!). Someone mentioned a few of the cartoons that came on like Jem, My Little Pony! Remember He-Man and his sister(girlfriend?) She-Woman? Songs by Prince. Classic, untouchable R&B like "you are my lady" by whatshisname. Wearing big shirts and hot pants with thick socks scrunched down. The last of the LP's. Miami Vice. The alien show "V". Twilight zone reruns. Solid Gold and the Soul Train. The scene in Pretty in Pink when "the duck" lip syncs to that song in the record store...luv it.
