I was born in 1983, but I vividly remember everything having to do with the awesome decade that was the 80s. Some of my favorites: Rainbow Brite, Punky Brewster, side pony tails, tshirt knots with those clips, spandex shorts, neon colors, Dirty Dancing, glowworms, Square One and Today's Special on PBS, all of the Saturday morning cartoons, Madonna and Janet Jackson, slap bracelets, the ice cream man, ALF...there is so much. I only wish that we could go through that time again...I know that I will never forget the childhood that I had through it.

Born in 1972, I really enjoyed the 80s, particulary the music. (Like Electric Avenue, Our House, and other songs) I also remember the 80's was also a big decade for game shows. I remember a lot of game shows in that decade. ANd the fads in the 80s like wearing youe sneakers without socks. I did that fad a lot in the 80s. THe 80s was a great decade, and at times I like to think back in those days!

I was born in 1969, so I remember the 80's well. Especially high school years from 84 to 87. We were the big fish in the small pond..nothing could stop us. We wore 3 or 4 shirts at the same time (all collars UP of course!), or thanks to Flashdance, no collars at all, just cut the whole neck out of your shirts...Jordache, Calvin Klein, Sasson, Gloria Vanderbilt, and Chic jeans. High top Nike, Reebok & Puma Sneakers, laced up loose enough that if you tried to run, or even walk fast, your sneakers would fall off. It was an art form to be able to get to class without having to take a step back and put them back on at least once. Jelly bracelets going 1/2 way up your arms, 'turning' your high school ring with all your friends, going to concerts (I must have seen Poison 8 times during this period), along with Motley Crue (4 times), Cinderella, David Lee Roth, Bon Jovi, Ratt, Kiss, Whitesnake, Ozzy...you name it, we were there! How did we get money for all these concerts? Still a mystery to me..I have no idea! The best movies from the 80's were The Breakfast Club, 16 Candles, The Goonies, ScarFace, Some Kind of Wonderful, Dirty Dancing, The Outsiders, Eddie & The Cruisers, Short Circuit, First Blood, Valley Girl. I know I'm missing a bunch, but hey, I'm not 16 anymore!! These were the days before the computer age, and before VCR's & DVD players. Remember Betamax tapes? I remember the first VCR I ever saw...it had a wire running from the unit to the 'remote control'...it was the coolest thing I ever saw. You could record an MTV video and actually watch it over and over again!! Awesome!! We remember why they had USA for Africa, and Live Aid, and Band Aid, and Hands Across America. We remember watching the Berlin Wall being taken down, and we woke up early to watch the Charles & Diana wedding. Yeah, we had Cabbage Patch Kids, and we had all the other craze toys from that era, but what makes it stand out so much was that it was truly FUN to be a teenager in the 80's. Going rollerskating on Friday & Saturday nights, doing the "Superbowl Shuffle" on rollerskates, and still dancing better than the football players in the video!! Who else remembers a time when you could walk to your friends house and not have to worry about anything? Leaving your bike outside while you went in for something to drink, and having it still be there when you came back? Remember when you didn't have to lock your doors at night, because neighbors looked out for each other? Kids & teenagers now have it a lot rougher than we did when we were their age, and I feel sorry that they can never experience the 80's the way that we did. It was a great time of my life, and I know that I'll always remember it. I'm still friends with the same people I was friends with back then, and in this day & age, that really means something. That 20 years later, you still truly love the people that you loved back then. That's the best thing from the 80's

Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, St Elmo's Fire, Grease 2, Weird Science, Labyrinth, Mannequin, Ghostbusters, Ferris Bueller, Heathers, Back to the Future, Red Dawn and Footloose... New Coke, YooHoo, and making Swamp Water...heavy on the root beer! Koo Koo's, Wig Wags, Pixie stix and Fun dip - hey remember garbage candy, wax lips and the four flavours chocolate bar? Pacman, burgertime and real pinball, think back to the first time you played 'sit down' Galaga!! 10 speed bikes with curly handlebars, skateboards (plastic ones), and roller skates inside your pepsi shoes! Flock of Seagulls, Erasure, Thompson Twins, David Bowie, Adam Ant and don't forget Big Country! Harem Pants, bandanas, tucking your pants in your socks, big shoulder pads in blazers with jeans, red swoosh nikes and many collars sticking up (god I must have worn 4 shirts at a time!)- also add a broach and some rubber bangles!!! Aqua Net hairspray(it was the best!), frosted lipstick, frosted nails and yep, frosted hair, bright blue eyeliner and 15 earrings - all different! Battlestar Galactica (Dirk Benedict!), Scooby Doo, Rex Smith(Sooner or Later), Dukes of Hazzard, Fraggle Rock, Love Boat, Saturday afternoon wrestling, hey don't forget to pick up the latest Tiger Beat magazine!! You thought you were cool if you - bowled in a real league, had fancy shoelace or hung out with the carnys at the local fall fair once a year... Ah, memories, I feel a tear forming - the 80's were the best of times and the worst of times - but mostly the best of times! Hey, I was in there with BIG HAIR, I even drove a trans am!! I just love to think of these things - it always brings a smile to my face...I'm grinning right now! LJ

I was born in January 1990 - yeah, a 90s baby, just missing the 80s. I think most of today's pop culture is crap and is really just recycled 90s stuff. I think the 90s were cool until about '96 of '97. I recently discovered 80s music. Styx's Mr. Roboto rules and Der Kommissar is the bomb. 80s music rules, especially the keyboards. I think that the 80s started in '79 and ended in '88.

I was born in 1963, so I appear to be the oldest person on this list. I went to college in the 1980s, so I associate a lot of my memories of the 80s with my college experience. Somethings I don't miss -- big hair; stone-washed jeans, etc. However, I miss the times. On a personal level, I look back fondly to the comraderie with my buddies and the social life we enjoyed. I found the political temper of the times exciting (being a Republican). All in all, it was a great decade and I feel a bit nostalgic when I watch a re-run of Cheers or Family Ties...

Ahhhh....the eighties! I turned 20 in 1984 and the music was (still is) GGRrrrreeat! I was perplexed by the sound of keyboards from a 'hard' rock band called Van Halen, but they gave us the album 1984 and the song "JUMP"! The top reasons the 80's are the best: Disco was dead Rap had not been invented No "Grunge"" music Hard rock had a good attitude Michael Jackson was still black

I like 80s music and some of the movies - the music kicks the crap out of 90s stuff, the movies are about equally good as 90s, the tv was much better, but saying everything after December 1989 is evil crap from f@*k!ng hell is illogical. What about Enter Sandman and Nirvana? What about Will Ferell? I wish I lived in the 80s but man, the only reason you think everything 1990 to today is f@*k!ng $h!& is because you did not grow up then and are obsessed with the "literal decade". Gawd, you even diss stuff from the late and early 80s. C'mon!

I was born in 1982,the eighties were so cool back then,my lanta,I remember some really cool music then.

I love the 80's...even though I was born in 1988 i grew up listening to my dads music which was the awesome "hair bands". Today I am 15 years of age and have a huge stock of all my favorite 80's groups which include europe, cinderella, van halen, montley crew, night ranger, ozzy, milli vanilli(however you spell it) and many many more....I cant get over how much i love these bands i am glad that the web site gives me the chance to thank these AWESOME groups for all the hard work that have done to make these songs for us (the fans) who really appericate their hard work for all the years and more to come. Thanks for reading my entry.... Shawn-Marie

Rockin since 78, I am the goonie who wished he was gymkata. I am the trench coat and turtle neck that matched your creepers. I was was INXS Kick and you were "Off the Wall" (michael Jackson) Lou Albano was Cindy Laupers Dad and all the girls just wanted to have fun. My favorite cartoon was the Mon-chee-chees and whent the other kids spent the night we were threes company. My little sister had jelly shoes that made her feet stink and because pogo stick wasn't enough- they made pogo ball... I hated pogo ball! To all of those 80's fanatics: Get out of my dreams and into my car.

80's fitness fashion was my personal favorite detail of the decade, alongside Care Bears.Aren't those leg warmers cute?I can't keep my eyes off colorful leotards!Gotta have those legless tights too! That makes me an 80's fan.

I was born in 1964...graduated highschool in 1982 then finally college...after a looong school career (sorry mom and dad) in 1988. I love the 80's. Times seemed so much more simple. I love the movies and the music. Being a young adult of the time was the best. Cruising town with the friends, staying out all night. The movies were great. I remember a great date to see "Police Academy"...My girl friend at the time gave me stuffed animals..I had Gizmo and the care bears..I know, not very manly but I wore light pink Izods whenever possible. Whis I could go back. If I did I would not do anything different. Well, maybe watch more A-Team and Miami Vice.

i loved the eighty's because of the way my hair was I looked just like Cindy Lauper. People thought we were twins, that was a joke. But the eighty's were cool because of the style! PIZZAZ!!!!!

I was born in 1983 but have an exceptional memory, so let's begin. The first movie I ever saw in theaters was Follow That Bird, the Sesame Street film, 1985. I absolutely remember BEING in the movie theater - even at the tender age of 2! I saw PeeWee's Big Adventure in 1986 when it came out, and yes, actually REMEMBER the theater experience of that one, too! The movies of the 1980's are probably reason no. 1 why I love this decade so much. The Breakfast Club is my all-time favorite movie, EVER! I could watch it over and over again. Unfortunately, I didn't see that one in theaters. I do remember catching it on TBS in the early 90s, and even then falling in love w/ it. I only listen to '80s music nowadays after realizing how great it is and how crap ass the "music" is today. "Tell it to my Heart" by Taylor Dayne is definitely my favorite song. I also love anything by Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Richard Marx, Expose, Stacey Q (a mere one-hit wonder but my pick for most underrated '80s artist), Madonna, Tears for Fears and various other new wave, dance-pop oriented artists. I bought digital cable solely to have VH1 Classic and see all the old videos that I'd missed. I watch it practically everyday. The synthesizer absolutely rules and currently I'm saving up to buy one of my own. Then there are the HORROR MOVIES - a HUGE part of my life right now. I've sought out hundreds and HUNDREDS of horror movies made during their heydey (the 80s) and have made quite a modest collection on VHS and DVD. I grew up on horror because of my mom's love for them, and saw quite a few in theaters (Return of the Living Dead 2, The Blob [remake], Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, etc.) and twice as many on shows like USA's Saturday Nightmares - where I first saw Spookies, Sorority Girls and the Creature from Hell, The Terror Within, Razorback and so many more. USA was really good back. As were other networks like Cinemax and HBO. I believe Cinemax is where I first caught Night of the Demons. God, imagine seeing that as such an early age. I remember watching Dance Party USA one Saturday or Sunday morning and right thereafter came a horror movie I'd been looking for for years called Trick or Treats. A really bad, old slasher movie from 1982 but it had an ending that really knocked this 6 yr old's socks off! I now own the movie and unfortunately it doesn't hold the same impact. But the memories will remain. The fashion was really fly back then as well, and although I don't wear anything that is reminiscent of the '80s style (I'd be a complete laughingstock) I do much prefer it to today's contemporary hip-hop fashion. I like the over-done makeup, fluorescent colors, big hair, ripped sorta do-it-yourself-clothing, etc.! MTV was cool back then and although I don't remember it very well, I loved the game show Remote Control. I have fond memories of that one. Very cool show that I'd LOVE to catch again somehow. Golden Girls, Who's the Boss, Taxi, The Wonder Years, Roseanne, Married with Children, Diff'rent Strokes and so many other TV sitcoms remain favorites of mine. My memory of the late '80s is better, for obvious reasons, and I used to watch The Wonder Years with my folks followed by 21 Jump Street. Or maybe it was the other way around. Either way I watched those two shows back-to-back. Then there was school - I used to get in so much trouble back in pre-school and kindergarten! Damn I was a bad kid. Memories. It's been fun, see ya. I also forgot about Thundercats. Back when Thundercats were in full swing, Burger King had a little Snarf toy that could attack to your drinking straw. I wanted that SOOOO BAD and my mom NEVER got it for me. I was FURIOUS! I remember the BK commerical. God my memory scares me sometimes. Ninja Turtles rocks, too. Had all the toys, as well as He-Man action figures. I saw Masters of the Universe in theaters. I feel, even though I was born in '83, I did experience much of the mid to late-80s as I possibly could.
