Songs from the Eighties That Have Been In Commercials, Products Beginning with O
Well, it was bound to happen, and it has been happening now for a while, Commercials bleeding the memory of the eighties, for music. The first one I remember is "Like A Rock" and then "Born in the USA." Now it's food items. What's next? I'd love to hear your recomendations. Please limit it to TELEVISION Commercials though. Radio stations usually mix in background music with spoken ads by the DJ's and the music tends to be used in both radio and television versions of most Commercials eventually.

Old El Paso, using Village People's, "Macho Man"
Used during the Mexican food company's "Nacho Man" campaign, which made me lose my appetite for Mexican food briefly.
Old Navy, using Young MC's, "Bust A Move"
Women dancing on a boat and on a beach to sell clothes.
Old Navy, using The Sylvers's, "Boogie Fever"
Of course, they re-named "Soul Train" to "Cargo Train" with the Soul Train Announcer, and re-named the lyrics "Boogie Fever" to "Cargo Fever" and was about Old Navy Cargos.
Old Navy, using Irene Cara's, "Fame"
The lyrics were changed. Instead of "Fame!" it went "Shorts!" for a Bermuda Shorts ad.
Old Navy, using Young MC's, "Bust A Move"
Used to promote the store's tunics.
Old Navy, using The Go-Gos's, "Our Lips Are Sealed"
The lyrics were changed for a Mix and Match Swimwear Sale.
Old Navy, using Rick James's, "Super Freak"
Lyrics were changed to "Super Skirts" to promote a Super Skirt sale. Lots of Old Navy ads were using songs with changed lyrics recently.
Old Spice, using Hungry Like the Wolf's, "Duran Duran"
A lounge singer sings to a bunch of pretty women.
Old Style Beer, using Inner City's, "Big Fun"
I don't know if many people saw this commerical in the 80's. But I remember it being shown locally in Chicago.
OnStar, using Danny Elfman's, "Batman Main Theme"
Used in the 1999-2000 OnStar "Batman" ad.
Ore Ida Crispy French Fries, using Quiet Riot's, "Cum On Feel The Noize"
I like the song so it was cool hearing it on TV. They played it when the dude took a bite of the fry and you hear this big crunch noise and the song starts.
Ore Ida Extra Crispy French Fries, using The Stranglers's, "Golden Brown (Texture Like Sun)"
The song starts when you see the comparison between Ore-Ida Extra Crispy Fries vs. the other fry. See as the Ore-Ida Fry is golden brown, the other is more of a dark brown. Announcer: Introducing New Ore-Ida Extra Crispy Fries. Because Golden Brown is better than just...brown. Who thinks about the ads I remember? It aired on TV Land, Food Network, ABC, CBS, NBC, and many other networks.
Ore Ida Funky Fries, using Lipps Inc.'s, "Funky Town"
The lyrics were changed to "Won't you get me some..Funky Fries." Ad aired on Nickelodeon, where most of the audience doesn't remember the original.
Ore Ida Funky Fries, using Lipps Inc.'s, "Funkytown"
I remember the lyrics were changed from "I want you take me to...Funkytown" to "Won't you get me some...Funky Fries." This ad aired on Nickelodeon, but I'm not sure if it also aired on Cartoon Network.
Osh Kosh B' Gosh, using Bobby McFerrin's, "Don't Worry Be Happy"
All the young kids wore Osh Kosh B' Gosh clothing.
