Songs from the Eighties That Have Been In Commercials, Products Beginning with T
Well, it was bound to happen, and it has been happening now for a while,
Commercials bleeding the memory of the eighties, for music. The first one I
remember is "Like A Rock" and then "Born in the USA." Now it's food items.
What's next? I'd love to hear your recomendations. Please limit it to
TELEVISION Commercials though. Radio stations usually mix in background
music with spoken ads by the DJ's and the music tends to be used in both
radio and television versions of most Commercials eventually.

T-Mobile, using
Def Leppard's,
"Pour Some Sugar on Me"
A couple is listening to the song in their truck, but they can't figure out the lyrics. Just then, the company spokeswoman stops the action and hands the woman a celular phone. She uses it to call a library and find out the correct lyrics.
T.G.I. Friday's, using
The Romantics's,
"What I Like About You"
Can we get something more original?
TGI Friday's, using
Scorpions's,
"Rock You Like a Hurricane"
Used to promote a sizzling Chicken Shrimp Platter.
Taco Bell, using
I Melt with You's,
"Modern English"
Used to promote a Cheesy Melt. I remember another chain using I Melt with You (Burger King?) several years ago.
Taco Bell, using
The Knacks's,
"My Sharona"
It was sort of clever. They said "My chalupa!" instead of "MY Sharona!"
Taco Bell, using
Spandau Ballet's,
"True"
Used to promote a Crunch Wrap. Aired during Super Bowl XL.
Target, using
Men Without Hats's,
"Pop Goes The World"
You got the group right, but the wrong song. It was "Pop Goes The World".
Target, using
Earth, Wind and Fire's,
"Let's Groove"
Used to promote a Christmas sale (2005).
Target, using
Canned Heat's,
"Let's Work Together"
Cool song re-done by a studio band
Target, using
Men Without Hats's,
"Safety Dance"
In the commercial, they are selling Spongebob clothing, but use this song and intertwine it with Spongebob lyrics. I find it to be kind of interesting.
Target Stores, using
Devo's,
"Beautiful World"
Alright commercial.. Just an advertisment for Target stores.. Nothing fancy. I like the song though.. Takes me back to the good old days..
Target Stores, using
Roy Orbison's,
"You Got It"
Using it's "Want it, need it, got it" ad campaign.
Tel-Us cellphones, using
Nena's,
"99 Luftballons"
Promoting cellphones that could take pictures of red balloons, one lifting a little piglet. Wwhat can I say? It got my attention.
Telecom USA, using
Tears For Fears's,
"Everybody Wants To Rule The World"
10-10-987. Careless of the company to use the song without permission. It seems wrong to include such a brilliant tune in this sort of commercial.
Telus(Canada), using
Nena's,
"99 LuftBalloons"
Its a really cute commercial with little pigs riding under red balloons.
Time Warner Cable, using
Devo's,
"Whip It"
Just butchered this song with horrible new lyrics!
Toyota, using
Dire Straits's,
""Money For Nothing""
"I want my M.P.G."?!?! - easily the WORST parody for a commercial in TV history. I cringe every time I hear it! Please make it stop.....
Toyota, using
The Fixx's,
"Saved by Zero"
The people at Toyota had no idea what the name of the song was,...the folks at the bank told me and said they could "fixx" up my payments for me. I just wish my credit cards had 0% financing.
Toyota, using
INXS's,
"New Sensation"
In a Toyota Corolla Mexican ad appeared that song.
Toyota, using
The Buzzcocks's,
"What Do I Get?"
Was used for ads for their SUV. It was filmed at high speed.
Trident Fruit Fushion Gum, using
Squeeze's,
"Tempted"
This guy is walks into a restaurant and looks over at this beautiful woman. He swallows hard and walks towards her and starts to talk to her, then his girlfriend walks over to him and pulls him away. The song "Tempted" plays throughout the commercial.
Trident Tropical Gum, using
Squeeze's,
"Tempted"
Tropicana, using
The Pointer Sisters's,
"Jump (For My Love)"
It was that commercial showing oranges pole-vaulting. Cool song. The riff was also featured in a Saturday Night Live segment hosted by Donald Trump, about Donald Trump's House of Wings.
Tropicana Light 'N' Healthy, using
Olivia Newton-John's,
"Physical"
A group of oranges are at a training faculty doing exercise, and played the song. With a carton of Tropicana Light and Healthy, a diving board and a pool of orange juice was there.
Tropicana Light 'n' Healthy, using
Olivia Newton-John's,
"Let's Get Physical"
Many oranges were in the training faculty, exercising to be "Light 'n' Healthy" and used the song to get physical.
Tropicana Orange Juice, using
Toni Basil's,
"Mickey"
It's kinda cute...oranges dancing around to the "Oh Mickey you're so fine you're so fine you blow my mind HEY MICKEY!" part...except um..not all that relevent to selling orange juice..but at least it's the original track
Tropicana Pure Premium, using
Diana Ross's,
"I'm Coming Out"
Used in a circa 2004 ad for the Tropicana Pure Premium 50th anniversary carrafe.
Tuborg Beer, using
The Smiths's,
"Please, Let Me Get What I Want"
Used in 1999 Tuborg beer ad.
Twix, using
Yellow's,
"Oh Yeah!"
A cheezy commercial in france for twix with the chorus going "oh-oh-ohhh-yeah", which didn't really make you hungry for a twix.
