Food of the Eighties, Products Beginning with J

I've been asked a couple of times for information about what food was specific to the 80s, so I've started a small list which I'm sure will grow pretty rapidly. Cereals of the 80s have their own page.

This list contains items that were around before and after the 80s, I'm looking for stuff that was still popular in the 80s. So this list will contain items that were around in the 70s, and maybe earlier if they were still popular.

Please note! Zima and clear colas were a 90s fad, not an 80s fad! I know it might seem like a long time ago, but that's only because they tasted so awful and were marketed so heavily. (Somehow, Zima still persists, though no one has determined why).

JOLT! Cola
Its claim to fame was double the caffeine and double the sugar for a JOLTING experience.
Jack in the Boxes' Frings
It was merely a carton full of french fries AND onion rings. Frings.
Jack in the Box Hot ham & Cheese
These sandwiches were sold at Jack in the Box, in the 80's. They were on a poppy seed roll and had lots of secret sauce, ham and cheese. So yummy, but they no longer sell these unfortunately.
Jack in the Box Toasted Ravioli
Toasted Ravioli with a nice cheese filling. Came with some excellent marinara sauce!
Jack in the box Nachos
Nachos with either cheese and Jalapenos or with meat and cheese etc. So good. I wish they would bring them back.
Jalepeno Lay's Potato Chips
Jalepeno-flavored Lay's Potato Chips came out around 1985 and only lasted a short while. They were delicious though and they are the one food item that I really miss. My friends and I used to have contests to see who could eat the most chips without a drink.
Jawbusters
Jawbreakers were marketed under a new name, but packed the same tooth-slaughtering goodness.
Jell-O Cotton Candy Flavoured
Came out sometime in the mid-80s. There were actually three flavours to come out at the same time which were Cotton Candy, Root Beer and Cola. Just writing about these; my subconscience lets me experience those undescriptable flavours all over again.
Jell-O Pudding Pops
A frozen version of Jell-O pudding. A popsicle with a very thin and crisp outer ice coating and creamy frozen pudding on the inside. Swirl was the best! My favorite topic of nostalgia conversations!
Jell-o Gelatin Pops
They were exactly like Jell-o pudding pops only these were a fruitier version. They came in mixed berry, strawberry and raspberry. They came out around 1986 and lasted a few years unfortunately. They rocked and I miss them.
Jello 1-2-3
It was instant Jello that you had to make in the blender. When you put it in the fridge, it separated into three layers...a creamy top, a mousse-like middle, and plain Jello bottom...strawberry and orange. I miss it.
Jello Pudding Pops
Bill Cosby of course was the spokesperson. They were frozen pudding in a popsicle form. Came in choc, vanilla and choc/vanilla swirl. I am sure these were introduced in the 80's and may have lasted into the 90's but are no longer made unfortunatley!!
Jello Pudding Snacks
Little cups of Jello brand pudding. They also came out with the famous choco/van. swirl. These were around before the 80s. They switched to the plastic cups in the 80s
Jellooze
Instead of having the juice like squeeze-its the plastic bottle contained Jello.
Jelly Belly Gourmet Jelly Beans
These are the tastiest Jelly beans ever! Too bad they are expensive! They have these neat flavours, such as toasted marshmellow, orange crush, strawberry cheesecake, chocolate pudding etc. They come in a box or tin can.
Jerky Stuff
Shredded beef jerky (yeah, as an adult that just SOUNDS nasty.) in a small round container that resembled chewing tobacco.
Jiffy Muffin Mix
Jiffy Muffin Mix came in a small box of plain corn muffin mix or blueberry and also in the early 80s in lemon which I liked best. It's still sold in stores today in regular corn muffin and blueberry mix only. I wish they would make the lemon again.
Johnny Appleseeds
It was along the lines of Lemonheads, etc., but these were green and left your tongue green. They were a little sour on the coating, but fine past that.
Jolly-Ranchers
A hard, retangular shaped candy which is somewhat transparant. Kids always hhad at least 3 or 4 of these little candies with them at all time They are known for their intense favor (Try the green apple or grape).
Ju Ju Bees
These were the smaller, hardened version of ju ju fruits. i remember sitting on the bus eating these...and then going to the dentist and him yelling at me for pulling the brackets of my braces! Ju-Ju bees could pull a tooth out!
Jumbles
A boxed baking mix with a brownie on the bottom and a yellow/white cake crumble on top
Jump'n Jack Cheese Doritos
I think these were in the 80's. My favorite, I was upset when Doritos pared down their flavors and nixed it.
Jungle Juice
Came in fruit punch with the lion who had a mane similar to an afro. the cartons were about the size of the now milk cartons you see. I think it was like a quart of the best fruit punch since Hawaiian, who will always be King of Fruit Punches.
Just Juice
Made by the Wonka Company these were little rolled wafer candies that tasted just like fruit juices. I think they were even made with real juice. Flavors included orange(my favorite), grape and a couple others I've forgotten
