Eighties Cover Songs, Songs Beginning with F

Thanks to Warren Bakay for suggesting this page to me, I hadn't even realized until he mentioned it, the music industry is dredging up big hits from the last decade due to a not-so-surprising lack of imagination by the current stars. This should of course come to no suprise to most people, some big hits of the eighties were covers as well ("Mickey", "Der Kommisar", "You Keep Me Hanging On" (which was remade into a hit four times so far)). So far though, most covers have been pretty hideous. We only list songs that are originally from the eighties and are now being made into covers. We also only list a band if they're already well known or the group is making a lot of radio play with the remake.

Oh and to clear up a misconception a few people out there seem to be having about this page (and sending me very nasty letters). I have no problem with artists who do a cover of a song in concert, or because they are just starting out and don't have enough original material of their own for a full set of songs. As a matter of fact, cover bands can be great fun to go and see. All groups in modern history start out this way, I own a lot of The Beatles albums and they were the original cover group. A lot of early rock songs were covers of old R&B tunes. It's a fact of life.

"F#ck The Police", Originally by NWA, Remade by Rage Against The Machine
Live but sounds Great.
"F#ck The Police", Originally by NWA, Remade by Bone Thugs N Harmony
It's still as explicit as before. Not bad though..... not good either...
"Fade To Black", Originally by Metallica, Remade by Apoptygma Berzerk
very good dancable cover
"Fade To Grey", Originally by Visage, Remade by Mark O
He just speeded it up a lot the voices sound the same.... Mark O is a house/gabber kind of "artist", but not the kind that makes great gabber music that real gabbers, not including me, would like, but sorry top-40 stuff silly peple like nowadays. He sucks big time, and so does his cover.
"Fade to Black", Originally by Metallica, Remade by Apopgyma Berserk
Taked the metal ballad and turns it into a dance-club song, with all the good and bad that that entails.
"Fade to black", Originally by Metallica, Remade by Sonata Arctica
Sonata Arctica have done many covers and all are great!
"Fairytale Of New York", Originally by Pogues, Remade by No Use For A Name
Very Well Done
"Fame", Originally by Irene Cara, Remade by Models
i saw the video today in french music channel MCM... i think the original by I. Cara its so mutch better!! the cover is quite boring!
"Fantastic Voyage", Originally by Lakeside, Remade by Coolio
another cover by coolio.
"Fascinated", Originally by Company B, Remade by Emjay
A Canadian dance singer who uses 2 Expose cover songs on her first album, "In Your Arms". She chose to remake "Fascinated" and "Point Of No Return" and does a pretty good job with them. Her version of "Fascinated" got heavy radio/club play here in Toronto, and I think her version of "Point Of No Return" is better than Expose's, but that's only my opinion. Her remakes are basically updated versions of those Expose hits, but still pretty faithful to the originals.
"Fascination", Originally by The Human League, Remade by OV7
I believe the original is actually called (Keep Feeling) Fascination
"Fascination Street", Originally by The Cure, Remade by Chimara
Chimara really amped up this version! It really kicked in good, but was shorter than the original. A metal band doing my favorite Cure song was all I could have dreamed for!
"Fascination Street", Originally by The Cure, Remade by Engine
Great cover. Much heavier than the original being that the band is a "supergroup"made up of members from Face to Face, Armored Saint and Fates Warning.
"Fascination Street", Originally by The Cure, Remade by Stavesacre
Quite a great remix. The remake is actually stronger, hard-rock-wise, than the original.
"Fast Car", Originally by Tracy Chapman, Remade by Wayne Wonder
a reggae version of Tracy's song.
"Fast Car", Originally by Tracy Chapman, Remade by Xiu Xiu
Does everyone cover this song? Sadder and slower than the original.
"Fast Car", Originally by Tracy Chapman, Remade by Darwin's Waiting Room
my favorite cover song ever!
"Fast Car", Originally by Tracy Chapman, Remade by Hitomi Yaida
Great Japanese artist who covered "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman... It's a GREAT cover! Check it out!
"Fast Car", Originally by Tracy Chapman, Remade by David Usher
A wonderful cover that does the original justice.
"Father Figure", Originally by George Michael, Remade by Ace Young
Surprisingly good, mellow, smooth... ending is kinda wierd though.
"Father Figure", Originally by George Michael, Remade by LL Cool J
generic
"Father Figure", Originally by George Michael, Remade by PM Dawn
Not bad, remake was called Patient Eyes and you can actually hear George's voice in the background
"Feel Like Makin' Love", Originally by Bad Company, Remade by Dangerous Toys
I'm a fan of cover songs that doesn't much care for anything older than the eighties... I love this song!
"Feel Like Makin' Love", Originally by Bad Company, Remade by Kid Rock (feat. Sheryl Crow)
Well it's definately not as good as the original. At first I thought it was going to be a country version, but as soon as the lyrics started I realized it wasn't! I guess country rock would be a good description. I did like it though.
"Feel Like Makin' Love", Originally by Bad Company, Remade by Choco Star
i thought that the acoustic cover was 10x better then the original
"Feel Like Makin' Love", Originally by Bad Company, Remade by Goldfinger
Found on the cover CD "Darrin's Coconut Ass"
"Feel Like Makin' Love", Originally by Bad Company, Remade by Two Nice Girls
I love how this song goes from overbearing and overblown to funny and delicious when covered by a lesbian bluegrass bar band....
"Feeling Good", Originally by Nina Simone, Remade by Muse
wonderfully dippy take on the Nina Simone-popularised jazz standard "Feeling Good" is carried off with the passion and feeling as ever cover that aspires to be better than the original!
"A Fifth Of Beethoven", Originally by Walter Murphy , Remade by Thicke
The son of actor Alan Thicke takes the original song and adds his own lyrics to the music. Tacky!
"Fight The Power", Originally by Public Enemy, Remade by Barenaked Ladies
Its hard to believe that a band consisting of suburban white guys from Toronto could cover one of the most militant rap songs ever, but its actually pretty good. It has a jazzy feel to it with the piano and floor bass. Ed Robertson and Steve Page have got the hip-hop patois down pretty well, and their voices do justice to Chuck D and Flavor Flav. Some may consider this rendition sacrilige, but if you don't take it too seriously, its a good listen.
"Final Countdown", Originally by Europe, Remade by Children of Bodom
They made the song into what it was supposed to be!! HEAVY METAL just GUITAR and no stupid synthesizers!! this version is a 1,000,000,000 times better than the original i hated the original but i love this song now because of Children of Bodom. WORTH a listen!!!
"The Final Countdown", Originally by Europe, Remade by Children of Bodom
Pretty good, lyrics which need a good dose of cough medicine and plenty of doublebassing on the drums, like it should be.
"Final Countdown", Originally by Europe, Remade by Children of Bodom
Nice nice, it has an extra dimension but it kinda lost the magic from the original.
"Final Countdown", Originally by Europe, Remade by Norther
Heavy metal version
"Fine Time", Originally by New Order, Remade by Biopsy
Experimental house turned death metal. Very awesome cover, has been on every metal CD I have burned so far.
"The First Cut Is The Deepest", Originally by Rod Stewart, Remade by Sheryl Crow
Probably the best thing Sheryl has done since "My Favorite Mistake."
"Flame Trees", Originally by Cold Chisel, Remade by Alex Lloyd
Live and acoustic performance. Very mellow, but good.
"Flight Of Icarus", Originally by Iron Maiden, Remade by Tierra Santa
A good take on a good song.
"Flight Of Icarus", Originally by Iron Maiden, Remade by Eternal Tears Of Sorrow
Harder then the original one, both versions are very good, but this one is better, more soul into it.
"Fly On The Windscreen", Originally by Depeche Mode, Remade by God Lives Underwater
A great remake! Cool beats and sequencing, with very GLU like singing. Available on the "For The Masses" tribute CD.
"Foolin'", Originally by Def Lepard, Remade by Camp Kill Yourself (CKY)
I'm a big fan of CKY and I love their version. I also like Def Lepard's version but I prefer CKY's. Like half of the cover songs listed on this website, CKY's version of Foolin' is funny. I enjoyed listening to this song a lot and I suggest that everyone hear it.
"Foolin'", Originally by Def Leppard, Remade by Kix
A fading glam band covering a Def lep....hmmmm. Not bad though.
"Foolish Heart", Originally by Journey, Remade by Nina
Its a beautiful acoustic version of the original. The female soft voice adds a very different sound and emotion to the song.. loving it
"Footloose", Originally by Kenny Loggins, Remade by Good Charlotte
Footloose is my all time favorite movie. I love Kevin Bacon and I love Good Charlotte. So when I heard this version, I was blown away. Its so fun and just great. I love it.
"Footlose", Originally by Kenny Loggins, Remade by Good Charlotte
Good cover used for the Not Another Teen Movie soundtrack
"Forget Me Nots", Originally by Patrice Rushen, Remade by Will Smith
Both versions are excellent, although the original is 20 times better. Will Smith covered this song and re-named it "Men In Black".
"Four Leaf Clover", Originally by Alantic Starr, Remade by Erykah Badu
Excellent job. Loved the orginal, loved the remake even better!!!
"Fox On The Run", Originally by Sweet, Remade by Deadsy
One of the best cover songs Ive ever heard!
"Freedom Of Choice", Originally by Devo, Remade by Fu Manchu
Slow and heavy. A wery nice stoonercover.
"Freedom Of Choice ", Originally by Devo, Remade by A Perfect Circle
On new album full of covers
"Freedom of Choice", Originally by Devo, Remade by Psychotica
A heavy version of the Devo hit on their self titled album.
"Freeze Frame", Originally by J. Geils Band, Remade by Jump5
Jump5 rocks and so does this cover! Much more fun than the original.

techno metal french band, great version of this song
"Funkytown", Originally by Lipps, Inc., Remade by Psuedo Echo
Not to my liking
