Eighties Cover Songs, Songs Beginning with K

Thanks to Warren Bakay for suggesting this page to me, I hadn't even realized until he mentioned it, the music industry is dredging up big hits from the last decade due to a not-so-surprising lack of imagination by the current stars. This should of course come to no suprise to most people, some big hits of the eighties were covers as well ("Mickey", "Der Kommisar", "You Keep Me Hanging On" (which was remade into a hit four times so far)). So far though, most covers have been pretty hideous. We only list songs that are originally from the eighties and are now being made into covers. We also only list a band if they're already well known or the group is making a lot of radio play with the remake.

Oh and to clear up a misconception a few people out there seem to be having about this page (and sending me very nasty letters). I have no problem with artists who do a cover of a song in concert, or because they are just starting out and don't have enough original material of their own for a full set of songs. As a matter of fact, cover bands can be great fun to go and see. All groups in modern history start out this way, I own a lot of The Beatles albums and they were the original cover group. A lot of early rock songs were covers of old R&B tunes. It's a fact of life.

"The KKK Took My Baby Away", Originally by The Ramones, Remade by Cool Millions
Great cover of the Ramones classic. The difference between the Cool Millions' version and Marilyn Manson's version is like night and day - Manson's version sucks ass. The Cool Million's version can be found on the Ramones tribute album "The Song Ramones the Same".
"KKK Took My Baby Away", Originally by The Ramones, Remade by Marilyn Manson
manson kicked the ramones in the ass with this song! his version is much better.
"KKK Took my Baby Away", Originally by The Ramones, Remade by MxPx
Good song. a good tribute to the godfathers of punk -Slaphead http://www.veryweird.com/slaphead
"Keep On Loving You", Originally by Reo Speedwagon, Remade by The Lemonheads
On a limited edition single, along with a pretty decent cover of Fade to Black by Metallica and Definitely Maybe by Oasis
"Kid A", Originally by Radiohead, Remade by John Mayer
Another great cover song by John Mayer
"Kids In America", Originally by Kim Wilde, Remade by The Toy Dolls
I love the site. Theres songs on your site that I have liked for years and never knew they were covers until I read it here. I know you already have plenty of "kids in america"'s but the toy dolls are huge and should be mentioned.
"Kids In America", Originally by Kim Wilde, Remade by Lagwagon
... Good stuff if You like ska/punk
"Kids In America", Originally by Kim Wilde, Remade by Bloodhound Gang
Can't Go Wrong With The Bloodhound Gang
"Kids In America", Originally by Kim Wilde, Remade by No Secrets
"Kids In America", Originally by Kim Wilde, Remade by LEN
I've never heard the LEN version, but since it's on the Digimon: The Movie soundtrack, it MUST be good.
"Kids In America", Originally by Kim Wilde, Remade by The Bouncing Souls
The Bouncing Souls have a way to make every cover awesome, regardless of how good the song was to begin with. plus, their punk style just adds more to the song. i love it.
"Kids in America", Originally by Kim Wilde REMAKE:the Muffs, Remade by (Appears on the Clueless soundtrack). This cover is decent and sounds a little bit like the original, particularly the male vocals which are missing at one crucial point. This is not as good as their cover of "Rock & Roll Girl" (can be found on 80's tribute album Freedom of Choice).

"Kids in America by Kim Wilde", Originally by Lawnmower Deth, Remade by Off the "Kids in America" E.P. by Lawnmower Death

"Killing An Arab", Originally by The Cure, Remade by Electric Hellfire Club
Great Industrial/Goth Mix of this classic that cure can no longer perform
"Killing Me Softly", Originally by Roberta Flack, Remade by Lauryn Hill & The Fugees
Not sure if this was an 80's cover, but Roberta Flack's original couldn't even touch Lauryn Hill & The Fugees!
"The Killing Moon", Originally by Echo And The Bunnymen, Remade by Pavement
depressive... i preffer the original one
"King of Wishful Thinking", Originally by Go West, Remade by B Team Starter
good stuff
"Kingston Town", Originally by Lord Creator, Remade by UB40
"Kiss", Originally by Prince, Remade by Max Raabe
This is something completly new... eh.. old. Max Raabe and his band make a varité-like 1920's interpretation of Kiss. F***ing hilarious to listen to.
"Kiss", Originally by Prince, Remade by Tom Jones
That song was an 80's hit, but Tom Jones was a phenomenom before the '80's. It's nice that he keeps his career going.
"Kiss", Originally by Prince, Remade by Art Of Noise
I remember seeing it on MTV and it is on my Tom Jone's greatest hits CD (yes, I actually own one). Actually, I liked the remake. It was pretty weird seeing the 1960's megastar (open shirt, chains, and all) singing a Prince song!
"Kiss Me Deadly", Originally by Lita Ford, Remade by Kristy Krash Majors
"Kiss Me Deadly", Originally by Lita Ford, Remade by Nerf Herder
I like the Reel Big Fish version the most, but the Nerf Herder version wasn't mentioned.
"Kiss Me Deadly", Originally by Generation X/Billy Idol, Remade by Lita Ford
Lita Ford did a metal-pop attempt of this Gen X punk classic.
"Kiss Me Deadly", Originally by Lita Ford, Remade by Reel Big Fish
An outstanding RBF cover of a cheesy 80's metal song. You can find it on a compiliation called "Metalliska" which has about 10 ska bands doing 80's hair-metal covers.
"Kiss Me Deadly", Originally by Lita Ford, Remade by Nada Surf
Great Cover by a great band. Much better than the original.
"Kiss The Girl", Originally by Samuel E. Wright (voice of Sebastian the crab), Remade by Ashley Tisdale
"Kiss The Girl", from the 1989 Disney movie "The Little Mermaid" was given a teen pop makeover for the special edition DVD of the movie. Tisdale's version isn't half bad compare to other current Disney remakes. Though I prefer Soul II Soul's version from an early '90's Disney video "Simply Mad About The Mouse".
"Kiss You All Over", Originally by Exile, Remade by Tiffany
I Hate to say it,but Tiff did a better take of this song
"Kkk Took My Baby Away", Originally by The Ramones, Remade by MxPx
Good song. a good tribute to the godfathers of punk -Slaphead http://www.veryweird.com/slaphead
"Knock Me Off My Feet", Originally by Stevie Wonder, Remade by Donnel Jones
Donnel Jones version is very good, but of course you can't out do Stevie Wonder!!!
"Knockin' On Heaven's Door", Originally by Bob Dylan, Remade by Avril Lavigne
Nice cover!
"Knocking On Heavens Door", Originally by Bob Dylan, Remade by Eric Clapton
Also covered this song. How could you miss this??
"Knocking On Heavens Door", Originally by Bob Dylan, Remade by Avril Lavigne
She aced it. Sounds great and is better the original.
"Knocking on Heaven's Door", Originally by Bob Dylan, Remade by Bon Jovi and Randy Crawford
Hi, this is just an email to confirm the name of the 2nd artiste--it should be Randy Crawford as above, and not Landy Crawfurd as I have mentioned in my previous email. Thanks. I think Guns and Roses did a cover on this song as well.
"Knocking on Heaven's Door", Originally by Bob Dylan, Remade by Bon Jovi and Landy Crawfurd
Bon Jovi certainly added a rock style to this song, but Dylan's essentialism as a acoustic guitarist tune still reigns. The number by Landy Crawfurd(or whatever her name is--pls correct me if possible) is perfect for a rainy night--definitely a different style of singing, evoking a whole new emotion.
"Knocking on Heavens Door", Originally by Bob Dylan, Remade by Heaven
This I thought, was one of the best covers of this song, from what I remember they were a "hair" band from "86's
"Knocking on Heavens Door", Originally by Bob Dylan , Remade by Guns and Roses
It was done very well i am not a Bob Dylan fan but a huge Guns and Roses fan
"Kyrie", Originally by Mr. Mister, Remade by East To West
Good cover - the harmonies were tight.
"Kyrie Eleison", Originally by Mr. Mister, Remade by Mark Schultz
Not bad... did well with the guitar work.
