Eighties Cover Songs, Songs Beginning with I

Thanks to Warren Bakay for suggesting this page to me, I hadn't even realized until he mentioned it, the music industry is dredging up big hits from the last decade due to a not-so-surprising lack of imagination by the current stars. This should of course come to no suprise to most people, some big hits of the eighties were covers as well ("Mickey", "Der Kommisar", "You Keep Me Hanging On" (which was remade into a hit four times so far)). So far though, most covers have been pretty hideous. We only list songs that are originally from the eighties and are now being made into covers. We also only list a band if they're already well known or the group is making a lot of radio play with the remake.

Oh and to clear up a misconception a few people out there seem to be having about this page (and sending me very nasty letters). I have no problem with artists who do a cover of a song in concert, or because they are just starting out and don't have enough original material of their own for a full set of songs. As a matter of fact, cover bands can be great fun to go and see. All groups in modern history start out this way, I own a lot of The Beatles albums and they were the original cover group. A lot of early rock songs were covers of old R&B tunes. It's a fact of life.

"I Put A Spell on You", Originally by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Remade by Sonique
Excellent mixes to a great song!
"I Can't Explain", Originally by The Who, Remade by The Scorpions
not bad
"I Can't Go For That", Originally by Hall & Oates, Remade by Tamia
With Missy Elliot producing and doing adlibs in the background, Tamia turns this into an important song about spousal abuse, and it works. As usual, she sings her heart out, and you can feel the pain and betrayal of a battered woman. Excellent! From the Nu Day cd.
"I Can't Go For That", Originally by Daryl Hall and John Oates, Remade by Simply Red
This is one of the best songs from this duo, and the cover, besides it's a remake, it is performed by a very good group and it's excellent!!
"I Can't Stand The Rain (Against My Window)", Originally by Tina Turner, Remade by Missy Misdamenor Elliot
Missy used the background vocals from this song in her song Supa Dupa Fly. It's interesting the way that she uses the vocals in her song because the begining of Supa Dupa Fly sounds almost identical to the begining of I Can't Stand The Rain (Against My Window.)
"I Cant Tell You Why", Originally by Eagles, Remade by Brownstones
You guys havent probably heard it, which you should.. I like Brownstones better.. its more soulful.. its like hammering ur brains with intrigue..
"I Didn't Mean To Turn You On", Originally by Cherelle, Remade by Robert Palmer
This song is mistakenly credited to Robert Palmer on this site. But Cherrelle recorded the original R&B version with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis in 1984. Palmers' version was released in 1985 with the Power Station.
"I Didn't Mean To Turn You On", Originally by Cherelle, Remade by Queen Latifah
I love this! This might possibly be my favorite Queen Latifah song. This cover is featured on Latifah's Order In The Court cd, and she does a bang up job. She effortlessy raps three verses, where she is telling a male friend that their relationship is purely plutonic, while she beautifully sings the hook, where she does allude to a couple of flings that they may have had. It's great cover, and it rivals the original. All hail the queen!
"I Didn't Mean to Turn You On", Originally by Sheila, Remade by Robert Palmer
I remember seeing a video of this song by an R & B singer named Sheila a few years before I heard Robert Palmer sing it.
"I Don't Care Anymore", Originally by Phil Collins, Remade by From Zero
I've been a fan of From Zero since I first saw them in 2000. I never liked Phil Collins, but when they covered it on their 2003 album 'My So-Called Life' I find myself singing along and really enjoying myself. It rocks!
"I Don't Like Mondays", Originally by Bob Geldof & The Boom Town Rats, Remade by Divit
good power pop version of this song.
"I Don't Like Mondays", Originally by Bob Geldof And The Boomtown Rats , Remade by Tori Amos
She adds a certain sweetness to it.
"I Don't Like Mondays", Originally by Bob Geldof And The Boomtown Rats, Remade by Bon Jovi And Bob Geldof
Another great cover off "One Wild Night" and, again, even better than the original, if only becaus eit is slightly heavier and gets rid of the annoying claps.
"I Don't Want To Talk About It", Originally by Rod Stewart, Remade by Everything But The Girl
Very good cover, I love Tracy Thorn
"I Drove All Night", Originally by Cyndi Lauper, Remade by Celine Dion
Celine did a good job of this song live. The live version is much better than the studio one. Old version is good too. But I prefer Celine's
"I Drove All Night", Originally by Cyndi Lauper, Remade by Celine Dion
Who does Dion think she is... no one rocks like Lauper!
"I Drove All Night", Originally by Cyndi Lauper, Remade by Pinmonkey
This is a "progressive country" band out of Nashville. The cover has a slight twang, but it's not over-powering and the harmonies are pretty tight. It's a pretty good cover. Not as good as Roy, much better than Celine.
"I Drove All Night", Originally by Cyndi Lauper, Remade by John Waite & Celine
I like John and Cyndi's but could do without Celine.
"I Drove All Night", Originally by Roy Orbison, Remade by Cyndi Lauper
Roy Orbison did the original NOT Cyndi Lauper.
"I Drove All Night", Originally by Cyndi Lauper, Remade by Celine Dion
Absolutely terrible. Celine should stick to ballads..
"I Drove All Night", Originally by Cyndi Lauper, Remade by Celine Dion
Wow. I never thought I'd say this but Celine took a really good song and ruined it.
"I Drove All Night", Originally by Roy Orbison, Remade by Cyndi Lauper
didn't roy do this one originally?
"I Drove All Night", Originally by Cyndi Lauper, Remade by Celine Dion
Well, I never heard the original but the cover version was really good.
"I Drove All Night", Originally by Cyndi Lauper, Remade by Celine Dion
I'm not much of a Celine Dion fan but I have to admit that I enjoyed her version.
"I Feel For You", Originally by Prince, Remade by Chaka Khan
This lady can take an orginal and make it hers. My only question is, why did Prince do it to begin with ?
"I Feel for You", Originally by Prince, Remade by Chaka Khan
I never heard the Prince version of this song, but I always hear the Chaka Khan version of this song and it kicks ass!!!
"I Found Someone", Originally by Laura Branigan, Remade by Cher, Michael Bolton, Mark Mangold
Here's the situation. Michael Bolton originally wrote the song. Laura Branigan first sang it in 1985. Cher covered it in 1987. Michael himself sang it again in the 1990s...same with Mangold. Michael sings it good...after all he wrote it. But Cher's is the best. Laura Branigan's is almost equally good. Mangold's is just slow like a 70s ballad...it's plain awaful.
"I Found Someone", Originally by Cher, Remade by
First recorded by Touch, changed and recorded in a very "futuristic" way, with synths by Laura Branigan, the essential recording by Cher, Michael Bolton re recorded it with a some very tasty changes, and the organic, unplugged, symphonic version by Mark.
"I Go Blind", Originally by 54-40, Remade by Hootie & the Blowfish
Not sure if Americans are aware of this but the Hootie & the Blowfish tune on the 'Friends' soundtrack is a remake. "I Go Blind" was originally 54-40 -- that's pronounced 'fifty-four forty', a great Canadian band who is still going strong today. (Their new release 'Trusted By Millions' came out last month, & it's very good.)
But as far as the Hootie cover version is concerned, it's not TOO bad, I guess. They didn't really stray too far from the original (a Canadian CLASSIC!), so I can't complain too much, although this recent Hootie-mania is beginning to wear thin. I do like them, but even I have to admit they've been severely overexposed. But I digress...
"I Got You", Originally by Split Enz, Remade by Vitamin C
Heavier electronic sound. From her debut album.
"I Heard It through The Grapevine", Originally by Gladys Knight & the Pips, Remade by Marvin Gaye and Zapp
"I Just Died In Your Arms", Originally by Cutting Crew, Remade by Resource
Great remix
"I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight", Originally by Cutting Crew, Remade by Smokie
MUCH BETTER!! it does sound alot like the original but just more improved.
"I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight", Originally by Air Supply , Remade by Sunspot Jonz, Cutting Crew
sunspot is actually a hip hop artist (not a rapper! hes underground! theres no bling bling involved). he utilized the beat and chorus of the original to do a very good slow flowing song. it sounds very good, perfect for a younger generation who barely remembers the original. i like it. i havent heard the cutting crew version, never heard of them, but apparently they did the song too.
"I Just Died(In Your Arms)", Originally by Cutting Crew, Remade by VOiD808
Sorry the first post I put was messed up, they are called VOiD808 you can check out this song at http://www.void808.com/downloads.html so go check it out. very very good cover!
"I Just Died(In Your Arms)", Originally by Cutting Crew, Remade by Void
I was working at guitar center and found this 4 song lp by this band called void so I took it home and I've got to say this is the best cover of this song I've heard so far...a little sped up and they add their own style but stays true to the original!!
"I Just Wanna Be Your Girl", Originally by Chapter 8 (Anita Baker), Remade by Bone Thugs N Harmony
Bone Thugs did'nt really "remake" this song, but they sampled the background music of the chourus part of "I Just Wanna Be Your Girl" on one of their mega-selling hits "1st Of Tha Month" from 1995. It's my all time favorite song. I luv 1st Of Tha Month!! Wake up, wake up, wake up, it's tha 1st Of Tha Month Get up, get up, get up, grab yo checks and come on!
"I Know Him So Well", Originally by Elaine Paige & Barbara Dickson, Remade by Steps
Steps seem to do nothing BUT cover...the untalented brunette sings - badly - in this one, as well as the blonde one who CAN sing. It's meant to be a duet between two women (from the musical 'Chess') but it's covered by a 5-member band so it's a real cacophony when they all yowl different parts at once. Stick to pseudo-Abba songs, guys.
"I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday", Originally by Morrissey, Remade by David Bowie
two of the more talented and sexy men that ever lived and two different yet equally good versions of a great song.
"I Know What Boys Like", Originally by The Waitresses , Remade by The Party
It is a bit more moderen. The woman singing realy makes her sound like a tease... but it is a fun remix of the song! It is off The Party's Second album... " in the mean time inbetween time" Sorry the album is out of print now!
"I Know What Boys Like", Originally by The Waitresses, Remade by Pure Sugar
the cover totally made the song sound kinda sexy... kinda techno-ish, or something
"I Know What Boys Like", Originally by Waitresses, Remade by Vitamin C
This song was annoying in the first place but the new version is much better.
"I Know What Boys Like", Originally by The Waitresses, Remade by Vitamin C
"I Love Rock & Roll", Originally by Joan Jett And The Blackhearts, Remade by Britney Spears
"I Love Rock & Roll", Originally by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Remade by 5ive
Hmm? I wonder what Joan is thinking about this cheap imitation?
"I Love Rock And Roll", Originally by The Arrows, Remade by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Britney Spears
Never heard the original but I love the Joan Jett version. As for Britney Spears' take, it makes my ears bleed. NONONONO.
"I Love Rock'N'Roll", Originally by Joan Jett, Remade by Britney Spears
The original is an awesome song, You really get that genuine "Rock N Roll" vibe from Joan Jett. But there is something really foney and fake when Britney sings it, sure she may love Rock N Roll, but she's a manufactured Pop-tart princess!
"I Melt With You", Originally by Modern English, Remade by Mest
Featured over the end credits in "Not Another Teen Movie."
"I Melt With You", Originally by Modern English, Remade by Jason Mraz
Really mellow ska cover of a great 80s song. This song appears in the 50 First Dates soundtrack. A differnt kind of sound for Jason Mraz, but it came out really good!
"I Melt With You", Originally by Modern English, Remade by Saves the Day
80's new wave turns into acoustic emo. Could have been worse.
"I Miss You Like Crazy", Originally by Natalie Cole, Remade by The Moffatts
Despite what people think, The Moffatts song was written by them, and is completely different from the Natlie Cole version.
"I Need Love", Originally by LL Cool J, Remade by Luka Bloom
A folky guitar rendition (fantastic live) that practically smolders with sensuality... or maybe it's the Irish accent.
"I Need You Tonight", Originally by INXS, Remade by Jacynthe
If you love INXS as I do...do NOT torture yourself by listening to this song. I heard it on the radio by ACCIDENT!!!
"I Put A Spell On You", Originally by Screamin' Jay Hawkins , Remade by Marilyn Manson
yet another great Manson Cover song
"I Put A Spell On You", Originally by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Remade by Marilyn Manson
just as good as the original, maybe better.
"I Put A Spell On You", Originally by Screaming Jay Hawkins, Remade by Marilyn Manson
I'm not sure if I ever heard CCR singing that song but Screaming Jay Hawkins did sing that song.
"I Put A Spell on You", Originally by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Remade by Bette Midler
From the motion picture Hocus Pocus. Excelent modern twist to the song.
"I Ran", Originally by Flock of Seagulls, Remade by Bowling For Soup
A decent cover, but the original song doesn't exactly lend itself to being "punked" up
"I Ran (So Far Away)", Originally by Flock of Seagulls, Remade by Assemblage 23
an industrial cover of a classic 80s song, it sucks huge time
"I Ran (So Far Away)", Originally by A Flock of Seagulls, Remade by Bowling For Soup
Very good rock cover of this 80s classic. BFS does great cover songs.
"I Remember You", Originally by Skid Row, Remade by Ataris
From the Punk Goes Metal compilation, this is an awesome punk rock cover. It's a lot more pumped up than the orignal.
"I Remember You", Originally by Skid Row, Remade by Ataris
Not that graet they use the oringinal in the beginning.
"I Remember You", Originally by Skid Row, Remade by The Ataris
Awesome. Much better than the original.
"I Remember You", Originally by Skid Row, Remade by The Ataris
Nothing can touch the original but a very good take.
"I Still Believe", Originally by The Call, Remade by Russ Taff
I have both versions of this Christian song.
"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", Originally by U2, Remade by Badesalz
It's a horrible cover, made by two Germans or Austrians in some lederhose-schlager style. I didn't even like the original, but the cover is even more detesting.
"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", Originally by U2, Remade by The Chimes
Early 90's remake by a british trio that sounds a lot like Soul II Soul. The female vocalist does a fantastic job and adds a lot of soul to the song.
"I Think I love You ", Originally by The Partridge Family, Remade by Less Than Jake
I love the punk rock beat, trumpet and other instruments add a cute touch. I saw Less Then Jake when they opened for Bon Jovi, have to say, weren't that bad.
"I Think We're Alone Now", Originally by Tommy James & the Shondells, Remade by Lene Lovich
Very fun and upbeat new wave, I like it
"I Think We're Alone Now", Originally by Tiffany, Remade by The Click Five
Both are great versions. The Click Five did an excellent job on this song.
"I Think We're Alone Now", Originally by Debbie Gibson, Remade by Screeching Weasel
great punk cover, this is off "kill the musicians" this cd is also rife with more than one excellent ramone's cover
"I Touch Myself", Originally by Divinyls, Remade by Genitorturers
great band & great cover
"I Touch Myself", Originally by Blondie, Remade by Scala
Scala is a children's choir that does covers of a bunch of other songs too. They are bone-chilling.
"I Touch Myself", Originally by Divinyls, Remade by Eve 6
"I Touch Myself", Originally by Divynils, Remade by Man's Ruin
From their self-titled four song mini-E.P., Man's Ruin is a riot grrrl band that makes L7 look like The Go-Go's. While the original was erotic and titliating, this cover was no-holds-barred tough, slutty, and in your face. The cover grabs you whereas the original merely tempts you.
"I Touch Myself", Originally by Divinyles, Remade by Jack Off Jill
strang but cool remake done by mad teenage girls, kinda like depression rock
"I Wanna Be Sedated", Originally by Ramones, Remade by Offspring
On the Ramones tribute album "We're A Happy Family". Other than the vocals, it sounds really close to the original.
"I Wanna Dance With Somebody", Originally by Whitney Houston, Remade by Roxane
It is a good cover of somewhat weak song. Roxane's version has so much energy you'll be able to dance all night long.
"I Wanna Dance With Somebody", Originally by Whitney Houston, Remade by David Byrne (of Talking Heads)
unexpected, but good
"I Want A New Drug", Originally by Huey Lewis and the News, Remade by Ray Parker Jr
Actually, acording to Huey Lewis and the News BTM Ray Parker Jr and Company ripped off Huey Lewis and the News with the song Ghostbusters. Huey sued over it because he didn't want any of his music to be used in the soundtrack for the motion picture Ghostbusters. Huey said simply "our music is not for sale." What the producers of Ghostbusters did was they took the song I Want A New Drug and speeded it up on the tracks. Huey put 2 and 2 together and came up with 4 discovering that Ray Parker Jr and the producers of Ghostbusters had ripped them off so they went to court and won the publishing rights to the song.
"I Want Candy", Originally by Bow Wow Wow, Remade by Bouncing Souls
"I Want Candy", itself, is a remake of a 1965 song for The Strangeloves. In fact, Richard Gotteher (from The Strangeloves) went on to co-found Sire Records and produce The Go-Go's first two albums and Blondie's debut.
"I Want Candy", Originally by Bow Wow Wow, Remade by Candy Girls
This version is so cute, I can't help but to smile! :)
"I Want Candy", Originally by Bow Wow Wow, Remade by Good Charlotte
I think Good Charlotte(a pop-punk band)did an awesome job.
"I Want To Know What Love Is", Originally by Foreigner, Remade by Wynonna Judd
You think Wynonna and think no way cover an 80's song. She covers it twice once as the slow ballad as intended and then comes along Piper and remixes it into a dance version which was a top 20 dance hit in the U.S. both versions are HOTTT!!
"I Want You To Want Me", Originally by Cheap Trick, Remade by Propagandhi
Just a correction about the NOFX version of this song. NOFX never covered this song and is often mistaken for this version off of the 1993 album How To Clean Everything by Propagandhi.
"I Want You To Want Me", Originally by Cheap Trick, Remade by Hanson
Its great, after they had all grown a little, I downloaded this and it was a live version, Zac sings the lead, his voice has progressed A LOT. Its really a great cover.
"I Want You To Want Me", Originally by Cheap Trick, Remade by Nofx
ok first of all nofx did NOT do this song better than cheap trick. i love nofx but please do not try to tell me that they are better than cheap trick. they'd probably agree with me too.
"I Want You To Want Me", Originally by Cheap Trick, Remade by NOFX
weird but cool. espececially the burping @ the end of the song :)
"I Want You To Want Me", Originally by Cheap Trick, Remade by SR-71
Not sure if the cover is recorded but I saw it live and believe me...it was cool. a great remake of a great song
"I Want You To Want Me", Originally by Cheap Trick, Remade by Dwight Yoakam
I like the original version, and I love the Letters to Cleo version, but this version just sucks! He performed it at the ACM awards last month and I don't think I've ever heard a whinier or more pathetic song.
"I Want You To Want Me", Originally by Cheap Trick, Remade by NOFX
its a fun song. not nofx's best, but worth listening to, an almost guaranteed laugh first time you hear it.
"I Want You To Want Me", Originally by Cheap Trick, Remade by Smashing Pumpkins
This was a live cover that I thought was pretty good
"I Want You To Want Me", Originally by Cheap Trick, Remade by Dwight Yoakam
Since Dwight is a country star, it sounds exactly like it would sound if it were done by a country honky-tonk band.
"I Want You to Want Me", Originally by Cheap Trick, Remade by Propaghandi
this cover was done by Propaghandi, not NOFX.
"I Want You to Want Me", Originally by Cheap Trick, Remade by Letters to Cleo
This is a decent remake, and it was used in "10 Things I Hate About You" (1999). I really like this song though, and am partial to Cheap Trick's version, which is peppy and upbeat!
"I Want You to Want Me", Originally by Cheap Trick, Remade by Nofx
Alot better than the original. Nofx rocks and turned the boring original into an awesome cover. It is fast paced and energetic.
"I Was Made For Loving You", Originally by KISS, Remade by Faster Pussycat
Cool industial(?) remake of this classic. Sounds harder than the original.. and, to me, more enjoyable.
"I Was Made For Loving You", Originally by Kiss, Remade by Paulina Rubio
I like Paulina Rubio, And i knew that one of her tracks, 'I was made for loving you' were a cover so i get the original version and i love it, i think, Paulina's is good but i reather Kiss's version!!!
"I Will Follow", Originally by U2, Remade by Fear Factory
Awesome Cover! Check it out.
"I Will Survive", Originally by Gloria Gaynor, Remade by Cake
The red-hot original sung in the unique style of Cake's singer John McCrea. I liked it, but it depends on your taste.
"I Wish", Originally by Stevie Wonder, Remade by Will Smith
Will Smith (or his producers) always had a hand for covering good songs what means to pick out cool pieces of work and lay them down with a contemporary disco beat. Good work. But be sure to check out the original - it's more funkier and sophisticated of course.
"I Won't Lie Down", Originally by Face To Face, Remade by Spoken
They're both very good!
"I Wonder If I Take You Home", Originally by Lisa Lisa And The Cult Jam, Remade by Black Eyed Peas
This is another cover by the Black eyed peas that is really cool. but under the name "Don't Phunk with my heart". Kinda like the background music of Tone Loc's "wild thang" on their new hit "Humps"
"I Would Die 4 U", Originally by Prince, Remade by Space Cowboys
"I like the way (the kissing game)", Originally by Hi-Five, Remade by P.Y.T
Great song!!!!!! girls version is so much better faster beat and better harmonies
"I want to know what love is", Originally by Foreigner, Remade by Gregorian
Titled "I want to know what is love" on the CD, this is the Foreigner song in a most bizzare Gregorian interpretation (think monks in an echoey monestary).
"I'll Melt With You", Originally by Modern English, Remade by Bowling For Soup
The cover sucks as well as the music video.
"I'm A Believer", Originally by Neil Diamond/The Monkees, Remade by Smash Mouth
The cover was recorded for the "Shrek" soundtrack.
"I'm Coming", Originally by Diana Ross, Remade by Notorious BIG,Mase and Puff Daddy
and they are getting paid for this! it's so useless...Puff Daddy call himself a songwriter, yeah right.
"I'm Coming Out", Originally by Diana Ross, Remade by Amerie
Nice remake :)
"I'm Every Woman", Originally by Chaka Kahn, Remade by Whitney Huston
I'm ashamed to admit it but Whitney's version is a lot better than Chaka Kahn's version.
"I'm In Love With German Film Stars", Originally by The Passion, Remade by Linoleum
brit pop version of this song by good brit pop band
"I'm So Excited", Originally by Pointer Sisters, Remade by Le Tigre
A rockin' giggly cover of this trashy Pointer Sisters song by the new millenium's best girl punk band.
"I'm the Man", Originally by Jack Johnson, Remade by Buck-O-Nine
Great cover. Better than the original, but pretty true to the original.
"Ice Ice Baby", Originally by Vanilla Ice, Remade by Korn
This is a GREAT cover! Vanilla Ice sings on the cover with Korn, Jon uses the bagpipes, the band kicks it up a HUGE notch
"Ice Ice Baby", Originally by Vanilla Ice, Remade by New Found Glory
i like the new version better myself if u know the song...u know what i mean lol
"If Ever You're In My Arms Again", Originally by Peabo Bryson, Remade by Regine Vasquez
Regine Vasquez may be a Filipino songwriter, but I believe she did a great job remaking this Peabo Bryson hit.
"If I Ruled The World", Originally by Kurtis Blow, Remade by Nas
"If You Asked Me To", Originally by Patti LaBelle, Remade by Celine Dion
I like Celine Dion, but her cover of it was no where near as good as Ms. LaBelle's was. I'm a little that Dion's version was a pop smash hit while LaBelle's only dominated the R&B during the summer of 1989. LaBelle's version stands out in most aspects and is a classic.
"If You Could Read My Mind", Originally by Gordon Lightfoot, Remade by Stars On 54
THe original was sentimental and nostalgic, the remake was, er, decent.
"If You Leave", Originally by OMD, Remade by Nada Surf
"If You Leave", Originally by Orchestral Manoeuvers In The Dark, Remade by Good Charlotte
Nothing brilliant here, just a fun, low-key remake that's basically successful. The original was the prom song from "Pretty in Pink" while this version appears at the prom in "Not Another Teen Movie." Good Charlotte plays it pop-punk without going overboard, so it doesn't lose the slow, glossy sound. It's not that different from OMD's version, in fact, with a more 90's garage feel.
"If You Leave", Originally by OMD, Remade by Nada Surf
was included on the FOX show The OC. Pretty good
"If You Leave", Originally by OMD, Remade by Nada Surf
the original is the greatest because pretty in pink is awesome, but this cover isn't COMPLETELY awful.slow, but soothing.
"Imagine", Originally by John Lennon, Remade by Our Lady Peace
Wonderful tribute to John Lennon, great replica of the original.
"Imagine", Originally by John Lennon, Remade by A perfect circle
different
"Imagine", Originally by John Lenon, Remade by A Perfect Circle
Proof that APC can make any song creepy....but loved it
"Imagine", Originally by John Lennon, Remade by A Perfect Circle
really great i love this version so much better
"Imagine", Originally by John Lennon, Remade by Eva Cassidy
Imagine there's no heaven... both singers are in heaven...
"Imagine", Originally by John Lennon, Remade by Dolly Parton And Madonna
madonnas version was preformed on her crittically accliamed re-invention tour it was moveing but dolly partons was amazing not only does she play the piano to it it was moveing and always a touching song i will recomending you finding this cover buy her its wonderful
"In A Big Country", Originally by Big Country, Remade by Moe.
This is just a great song, the original is great and the cover is great. hearing and loving the cover first thinking it was original only to learn it was a cover later makes me somewhat partial to Moe. but all in all just one great song.
"In A Big Country", Originally by Big Country, Remade by Face To Face
A killer version-Face to Face has a lot of them
"In A Gadda Da Vida", Originally by Iron Butterfly, Remade by Slayer
Weird. Good, but weird........
"In A Lonely Place", Originally by New Order, Remade by Ikon
A techno version of the slow-paced classic. Pretty good actually.
"In A Lonely Place", Originally by Joy Division, Remade by Bush
It's so-so, the original may be better
"In Between Days", Originally by The Cure, Remade by Face to Face
"In Between Days", Originally by The Cure, Remade by Face To Face
robert smith is a genius
"In Between Days", Originally by The Cure, Remade by Face To Face
sounds almost like the original
"In The Air Tonight", Originally by Phil Collins , Remade by Nonpoint
Amazed It is a really cool cover on Nonpoints latest album ReCoil I would never have thought Nonpoint would cover Phil Collins! GREAT STUFF!!
"In The Air Tonight", Originally by Phil Collins, Remade by DMX
DMX covered and Made This More Upbeat and Rap Style!!!! He Took Phil Collin's In The Air TOnight and Renamed It "I Can Feel It" and Put It On His Release "It's Dark And Hell Is Hot". Excellent Cover!!!!
"In The Air Tonight", Originally by Phil Collins, Remade by Holly McNarland
Excellent cover song. Holly's version is a little faster and more rockin' than Phil Collins' original but it holds very true to the song. A great song for adventurous Phil Collins lovers as well as Holly McNarland fans. THis song can be found on her live album.
"In The Air Tonight", Originally by Phil Collins, Remade by Nonpoint
The cover is better than the original...much cooler!
"In The Air Tonight", Originally by Phil Collins, Remade by Tupac
This is another good remake of a good song, from the infamous Tupac Shakur. Once again, this remake is better than Lil' Kim's, and up to par with Dmx's version.
"In The Air Tonight", Originally by Phil Collins, Remade by Nonpoint
I knew of this song from way back in the day. When I saw it was on Nonpoint's 2004 album "Recoil" I got to hear it again and again, they did a damn good job, this song is very good.
"In The Air Tonight", Originally by Phil Collins, Remade by Lil Kim
the worst cover ever perhaps!
"In The Air Tonight", Originally by Phil Collins, Remade by Nonpoint
Realy cool cover it much better than the rap ones. Rhis is the real Phil. The original version is pretty cool also.
"In The Heat Of The Night", Originally by Pet Shop Boys, Remade by To/Die/For
Better than Gamma Rays cover version
"In The Heat Of The Night", Originally by Sandra, Remade by To Die For
even better than the 80's version. these european guys have at least one cover song in each album they release. check it out. the song (and the band as well) deserves it.
"In Your Eyes", Originally by Peter Gabriel, Remade by Aaron Lewis
The lead singer for Staind did a passable live version of this song recently.
"In Your Eyes", Originally by Peter Gabriel, Remade by Nicole Nordeman
Not too shabby, liked it better than the Jeffrey Gaines version. Was listening to a Christian radio station and heard a dance mix version of "In Your Eyes" with a female singer and was wondering if anyone knew who that was.
"In Your Eyes", Originally by Peter Gabriel, Remade by Jeffrey Gaines
Okay, as '90s and 2000s covers go...Peter Gabriel's version was better. Jeffrey did it a little slower and without the backing vocals. Was better the first time.
"In Your Eyes", Originally by Peter Gabriel, Remade by SR-71/Mitch Allan
I really liked it. It's more upbeat than the previous and a little harder as far as the guitar playing goes, but still I rate it highly with regards to the original!
"In Your Eyes", Originally by Peter Gabriel, Remade by Nicole Nordeman
This was a good remake. Nicole's voice puts this song in a whole new light.
"In Your Eyes ", Originally by Peter Gabriel, Remade by Ben Harper
An amazing cover - makes me love the song even more!
"In a Big Country", Originally by Big Country, Remade by Moe
I read about this cover here on this site. Downloaded it off Kazaa and deleted it less than a minute into listening to it. Wrong! Wrong! All Wrong! Half the appeal of Big Country's music was the ability of the guitar work to resemble scottish bagpipes, of which there is no vestige left on this sad remake of what was (and still is) a very fresh and original sound.
"In the Air Tonight", Originally by Phil Collins, Remade by Nonpoint, 2 Pac, Lil Kim, DMX
i found these covers by accident while looking for the extended version of the original. Nonpoints Version is a rock (ish) version and uses all the lyrics and is pretty cool, while the others use mostly the chorus.. out of the 3, 2 Pac's is my favourite.. good to see a cool song is appreciated..
"Indoor Fireworks", Originally by Elvis Costello, Remade by Laura Cantrell
An excellent cover that the NYC-based country singer performs live.
"Into The Groove", Originally by Madonna, Remade by Madhouse
They made a dance cover of Madonna's other song "Like a Prayer" and now this.I think their whole Cd was nothing but cheap Madonna covers...
"Intruder", Originally by Peter Gabriel, Remade by Primus
good strong version
"Iron Man", Originally by Black Sabbath, Remade by Die Krupps
I really like Die Krupps and their Tribute to Metallica album is awesome, but they should have left Sabbath alone. A fairly poor attempt IMHO.
"Iron Man", Originally by Black Sabbath, Remade by Cardigans
Totally different from the orginal, possibly better. outstanding!
"Is She Really Going Out With Him", Originally by Joe Jackson, Remade by Kid Courageous
tacky
"Is She Really Going Out With Him?", Originally by Joe Jackson, Remade by Sugar Ray
I like both versions. Sugar Ray doesn't change much at all and Mark McGrath sounds a lot like Joe Jackson.
"Is She Really Going Out With Him?", Originally by Joe Jackson, Remade by Goldfinger
Well Covered. Doesn't change the original too much, but adds chunkier guitar riffs and far stronger vocals. Very Solid.
"Is There Something I Should Know", Originally by Duran Duran, Remade by Allstars
They took out the bit about the "nuclear war", it sucks, Duran's version is much better.
"Is There Something I Should Know?", Originally by Duran Duran, Remade by The Mr. T. Experience
No, it just plain butchered the original. Way too fast.
"Is This The End", Originally by New Edition, Remade by Puff Daddy
Does Sean Combs have even an ounce of originality in him? The whole song isn't a remake, but it seems like everything he does has samples of '80s songs by Sting and several by New Edition. Hey, at least he's getting them some recognition!
"Isolation", Originally by Joy Division, Remade by Therapy?
The synth is replaced by heavy guitars for a rocking cover version by the Northern Irish noiseniks.
"Isolation", Originally by Joy Division, Remade by Therapy?
Fantastic. Therapy? actually scored a U.K. top 40 hit with this! Not that that matters, but its a good tune, all the same! This cover can be found on the album 'Troublegum'.
"It Is The End Of The World As We Know It", Originally by R.E.M., Remade by No Doubt
Great Cover Song performed at the MTV New Year's Eve 2000.
"It's A Miracle", Originally by Culture Club, Remade by St. Jennaro
This is an EXCELLENT song!!! Both versions are equally great!! (The St. Jennaro version was re-titled as "Miracle".)
"It's A Sin", Originally by Pet Shop Boys, Remade by To/Die/For
Better than Gamma Rays cover version
"It's A Sin", Originally by Pet Shop Boys, Remade by Gamma Ray
I always thought that the original had a great melody, and so it could make a good electric guitar riff...so be it! Gamma Ray rocks! I am a big heavy/powermetal fan,so I love this cover...
"It's All Coming Back To Me Now", Originally by Pandora's Box, Remade by Celine Dion
The original version was done by Pandora's Box, an all girl group of the late 80s that was a one hit wonder. It is on their only album `Original Sin'. Both songs were produced by Jim Steinman, who has worked with Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler, Andrew Lloyd Webber etc, and who fancies himself as a `Phil Spector-type' producer. As far as I can tell, the two versions sound virtually identical, and thus I like them both equally. Meat Loaf later did covers of some songs from the same album.
"It's End Of The World As We Know It", Originally by REM, Remade by Suicide Machines
Awsome cover, faster and harder.
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
I like both versions equally. Though, I do enjoy ND's better because of the harder hitting beats, but TT's version is also better.
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
Annoyingly, No Doubt shouldn't have sung this Talk Talk song because the remake seems very confusing.
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
I love both versions! Gwen rocks!
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
Not has good as the original
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
It was fine up until the chorus. Doesn't help that I don't like No Doubt that much in the first place. The original is so much better.
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by Battery
From the "Newer Wave Vol. 2" compliation, which is made up of electropop/industrial covers of 80's songs.
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
I like No Doubt but Gwen Stefani is whining on the song. The video is pretty cool though.
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
Gwen Stefani's voice did the song justice I think.
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
Both are great songs, but i absolutely love No Doubts version of it.
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
Everyone has heard this......its great!! I'm a huge No Doubt fan. They didnt change the song all that much..its pretty much just a better version!!
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
I liked this cover. It's not Talk Talk but it works.
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
Gwen does a surprisingly good job on this song. I am usually resistant to covers, but this one is a hit with me.
"It's My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
Still like the original, of course.
"It's No Good", Originally by Depeche Mode, Remade by The Chevelles
Good Cover...
"It's No Good", Originally by Depeche Mode, Remade by Chevelle
Unilke Rammstein's butchering of Stripped here is an example of a good cover effort. Chevelle very much did it justice.
"It's Not Unusual", Originally by Tom Jones, Remade by Five Iron Frenzy
This song is on their live album and on "All the Hype Money Can Buy". This cover holds to the original for the most part, but the ska feel puts it far ahead of anything Tom Jones ever did.
"It's Raining Men", Originally by Weather Girls, Remade by Geri Halliwell
yuck!
"It's The End Of The World As We Know It", Originally by REM, Remade by Great Big Sea
Not as good as the original, but a fine, rollicking accoustic version by this East-coast Canadian band.
"It's The End of the World As We Know It", Originally by REM, Remade by Great Big Sea
Not bad, more upbeat - added some Canadaian East Coast kick to it
"It's The End of the World As We Know It", Originally by R.E.M., Remade by D.C. Talk
DC Talk is a piller christian band that usually mimics whatever is popular at the time (blah blah blah when grunge game they were grunge but when "In Living Color" style rap was cool thats what they did.) either way they preserved the song well. Didn't ruin it but they didn't add anything either.
"It's Tricky", Originally by Run-DMC, Remade by Bloodhound Gang
Terrible. Simply awful. And honestly, how hard could covering this song be?
"Its My Life", Originally by Talk Talk, Remade by No Doubt
Great cover, the bass line really stands out on this version. They put an origanal twist on it.
"Its So Easy", Originally by Guns n' Roses, Remade by Manic Street Preachers
It's...alright. I love both bands, but the Manic's version was a really early live recording, so it's far from them at their best. It's also quite rare, available on an early single from their first album, 'Generation Terrorists'. The original is better, though!
"Its The End Of The World As We Know It", Originally by REM, Remade by Suicide Machines
Very good punk cover. They don't come any better then this. It does the rem song juctice. Its the best cover of this song i think i have ever heard.
"Its The End Of The World As We Know It", Originally by REM, Remade by Riddlin Kids
they did a great job on an equally great song. be sure to look for this up and coming punk band out of Texas.
"Its The End Of The World As We Know It", Originally by REM, Remade by No Doubt
Gwen is hot....that is all
