Eighties Cover Songs, Songs Beginning with misc
Thanks to Warren Bakay for suggesting this page to me, I hadn't even
realized until he mentioned it, the music industry is dredging up big
hits from the last decade due to a not-so-surprising lack of imagination by
the current stars. This should of course come to no suprise to
most people, some big hits of the eighties were covers
as well ("Mickey", "Der Kommisar", "You Keep Me Hanging On" (which was remade into a
hit four times so far)). So far though, most covers have been pretty
hideous. We only list songs that are originally from the eighties and are now being made
into covers. We also only list a band if they're already well known
or the group is making a lot of radio play with the remake.
Oh and to clear up a misconception a few people out there seem to be having
about this page (and sending me very nasty letters). I have no problem with
artists who do a cover of a song in concert, or because they are just
starting out and don't have enough original material of their own for a full
set of songs. As a matter of fact, cover bands can be great fun to
go and see. All groups in modern history start out this way, I own a lot of
The Beatles albums and they were the original cover group. A lot of
early rock songs were covers of old R&B tunes. It's a fact of life.

Takes on an evil sound. Gothic-techno makes the song way better, was surprised at how the lyrics sound so dark when the right music is added.

I like the remake of this song. The rock remake gave the song a harder edge that fits in withthe 90's. One point of conflict is that Fred didn't know the lyrics to well and it showed during the live performance of it (Only shown once on Mtv.)

Me First And The Gimme Gimmes
i thought it was a great cover. Me first and the gimme gimmes is just strictly a cover band and i think all of the songs they make are fantastic.

Really like playin' spot the difference with this n the original, why bother recreating a song EXACTLY the same?? If you're a fan it might interest you however.

Whether you preferred the German version of the song or the English version, crank this up. Goldfinger punks it up, funks it up and uses both languages. Awesome cover!

7 Seconds Or Goldfinger
the 7 seconds cover of that song rocks, the golfinger one is alright, and the guy who said nofx covered it is wrong, he heard one of these two

I like this song and i like goldfinger, most ppl who cover this song don't sing in german like the original goldfinger does both it's great!!!

Definately the best punk cover ever. Keeping one verse German seems like a stupid idea, but that was the best part of the song. Great respect to the singer who had to learn all that in German. No doubt the best punk cover! I suggest it to anyone without heart problems.

I don't know why some people think that Neneh Cherry did the original 99 Red Balloons ... maybe the similarity to the name of the true artist, Nena, who also sang the original German version. (Yes, she did both!)
